We've introduced a new idea into our home..."Man Time." Time for just Daddy and Liam. Of course, they spend time together a lot but we decided to name it to prepare Liam for me being away on a work trip yesterday and today. This is how I explained it: "Liam, you an Daddy are going to have fun together, you get special Man Time. Did you know Daddy is a man? And Liam's a little man!" Liam then replies, "Daddy, man...Liam, man." With obvious pride! I then said, "Is mommy a man?" Liam says, "Mommy no man...Daddy and Liam man!"
Now that I've returned from my trip I wanted a full report on Man Time. Here's how the conversation went:
Me: "Liam, did you have fun Man Time with Daddy?"
Liam: "Yeah"
Me: "What did you do with Daddy?"
Liam: "Ummm...Daddy man, Liam man!"
Me: "Liam, can you tell me what you did or is it a secret?"
Liam: "Secret!!!"
Me: "Can't you tell your Mommy?"
Liam: "No Mommy secret! Daddy, Liam...Man Time!!"

L is for Liam
Liam and I have been talking about letters recently. We're not using flashcards or anything crazy, just mentioning them while we look at alphabet books or when we play with letter magnets. This morning while I was getting ready for work, Liam was sitting in his room "reading" to himself. It's very cute to hear him pretend to read aloud! He brought his Charley Harper alphabet book (we love this one!) to me opened to the page with L for Ladybug. He pointed to the letter L and said "L for Liam!" Whoa! He then turned the page to M for Monkey and said, "M for Mommy!" I think I've got about three weeks and then he's smarter than me!

The best day!
We just got back from a great day! Started off with a long walk to Busken for our weekend donuts. After nap we went to the pool with Liam's dear friend Bella. Liam loves to jump off the side of the pool into our waiting arms. Today, he saw big kids jumping off the diving board and said, "me do dat!" After locating a life jacket, we took the plunge! I dropped Liam off the board into the water where Geoff was waiting to grab him. The two of them swam to the side and Liam very excitedly said, "Me jump high diving board! AGAIN!" So, we did it again! My little brave daredevil! After the pool we hit a local festival where Liam got to ride a school bus (the shuttle from the parking lot), 'drive' a firetruck and get a hat from the firefighter, ride a pony and have ice cream! This could have possibly been the perfect day from a 2 year old's perspective.
