Story

Liam's teacher told me this story last week:

Another one-year-old in his class, we'll call him Moe, has been hitting Liam occassionally but with regularity. He doesn't hit him hard enough to hurt, just enough to be annoying. Liam has patiently tolerated Moe's behavior for the last few weeks. The other day, Moe was back at it and Liam looked at his teacher with an exasperated expression. She turned her back for a moment when she heard Moe cry. When she turned back around, Liam was hitting Moe back "whap, whap, whap, whap." She said it was all she could do to not laugh. She had to remind Moe that he started it and that's what could happen when you hit your friends. Moe has left Liam alone ever since.
